About 2 weeks ago, Keith and I hit downtown Nashville to hangout and network with all the cool people living in this town. While I was out, I ended up running into rock concert photographer, Chad Lee (www.rockconcertfotos.com). We had a quick exchange and he let me know that a friend of his, Chris Michaels, had just opened up a bar a few weeks prior called BoondoxXx BBQ and Juke Joint. After Keith and I were done at the bar we were at, we decided to go check out BoondoxXx. When we arrived, there was already a group of people hanging out and enjoying the bar. Among them was Chad Lee, whom I had spoken to just hours prior. We were greeted with an enthusiastic, "You made it!", introduced to some more awesome people, and then after chatting for a while, Keith and I decided to order some food. And LET. ME. TELL. YOU...
It was amazing.
Keith and I were hurting over the loss of our favorite BBQ joint back home (not because they closed... just because we moved. HAHA!), but after having the amazing BBQ at BoondoxXx, we feel *much* better! If you're looking for a good BBQ joint to check out in Nashville, definitely go visit BoondoxXx! They're located on 2nd Ave. South, I believe.
So anyway, after we ate, I got to talking with Chad again, and he mentioned that he was running a benefit called Ride for Dime, in honor of the late Dimebag Darrell, that benefits foundations like Little Kids Rock, which provides instruments and funding for music programs to schools whose funding has been cut. He then asked me if I would be interested in photographing the event for him, as he wouldn't be able to do it, since he was *running* it.
Of course I said yes! Getting to work with some awesome people and doing it for a good cause like music education? Heck yes, I will!
So that's what I did last Saturday, March 9th. I went to The Rutledge (actually I circled it about 3 times until I found parking...), and covered the Ride for Dime benefit!
I'll be posting images from the show in parts, so as to keep the blog posts from getting to be 50 miles long...
But with that being said, here are some of the highlights of the first band, Harlott!
