Rocket Me Nowhere, comprised of Mark "Scissors" and Nick Sabin, is a fun, upbeat band that kind of makes you just want to... skip... like, all over the place. It's that kind of happy. A random fun fact: Mark was on Conan O'Brien with Rocket Me Nowhere, when the band wrote a song in response to Conan O'Brien's accidental creation of "hornymanatee.com".
The resulting Rocket Me Nowhere song:
Haha! Good stuff, right?
So anyway... back on topic... a few weeks ago Rocket Me Nowhere had a show at coincidentally enough, Rocketown, in downtown Nashville, and I decided to go along to work my live photography muscles. The venue was an interesting space. As someone called it when describing to me the room Rocket Me Nowhere was to play in, it was very much like "a show in Grandma's basement"... oh... and there happened to be mirrors.
There wasn't a whole lot of room to move around... there wasn't a whole lot of lighting going on... and the mirrors made for an interesting dynamic, but it was fun none the less. That night, they also had Vinay Shroff on drums (whom you might recognize from my set of The High Fives).
Here are a few of my favorite images from the evening.
