Goodfellas NYE 2011 | Crobot

They're the Dirty-faced Brethern, and they're taking PA and surrounding areas by storm!  They're Crobot and if you live anywhere near where they've played, and you haven't been out yet to see them, you are SERIOUSLY missing out! On New Years Eve 2011, Crobot played a show with 3 other bands:  A Dawn BecomingTrue Becoming, and Candlelight Red at Goodfella's Warehouse in Pottsville, Pa.

Self-described as "dirty groove rock", these guys hit the stage hard and don't stop until they're done!  They've been compared, by their fans, to bands such as Clutch, Queens of the Stoneage, The Mars Volta and the legendary Led Zeppelin!

It's serious stuff, people.

They're currently in the studio, working on pumping out their album for the world to devour, (which of course I hath documented and those images will be hitting the blog soon... ^_^ ), but until then you should DEFINITELY check them out on Facebook, ReverbNation, Youtube (Where you can see some of my BRILLIANT video skillz... O_o), and their Sign Me To profile, a site run by Roadrunner Records in order for bands to have the chance to be heard and discovered!

December 8th, 2011, they peaked on the Sign Me To rock charts at number 1 and on January 3rd, P.D Freeman over at Road Runner wrote, in his "Who Charted?" article (http://signmeto.roadrunnerrecords.com/blogs/2012-1-3-who-charted-january-3-2012),

I've been listening to the two albums recorded by criminally underrated/forgotten East Coast stoner rockers Core a lot lately (Revival, from 1996; The Hustle is On, from 1999; go find 'em), and Pennsylvania's Crobot remind me of those guys quite a bit. They've got all the right ingredients: booming, groove-oriented guitar riffs, high-pitched Wolfmother-esque vocals, and drumming like someone slamming a car trunk lid on your skull, over and over again. They've got swing, and power, and a tiny bit of psychedelia thrown into the mix, and they're worth your time. I bet they're great live, too. Give 'em a listen.

Also, for fun... I will include this more recent interview with Bishop for Popbreak.com:  http://pop-break.com/2012/01/30/shipwrecked-at-the-shore-interview-series-crobot/

Alright, that's enough praise and promotion for now, methinks.

SO...

Brandon, the frontman for the band, does this really interesting thing when they play... he tends to often gravitate towards a certain persona type, which he commits to for the entirety of the show that they're playing.

Towards the end of 2011, what the boys liked to refer to as his "evangelical" or "preacher" persona, came out at a couple of shows.  I got lucky and the NYE gig was one of 'em!

So... I bring to you... Pastor Brandon Yeagley, backed by the Dirty-Faced Brethren, preaching about the legend of the space-born killer, that is the CROBOT!!!!

Crobot | Roundhouse

Crobot played a show in the end of November at the Roundhouse in St. Clair, pa.  I took some pictures.  These are the results.  XD It's been interesting for me because lately I've been shooting in bars smaller than the clubs I used to shoot in (because original bands tend to get booked at small dive bars vs. the cover bands that tend to book bigger clubs where the patrons don't want to hear anything other than what they hear on the radio every day...) so there are times when I have either no stage lighting, or just shoddy lighting.

The lighting for this show was very scattered and sparse, as it was brought by the audio engineer that night, and thrown up and turned on.  This is fine if you're an audience member and just like watching a band under a few different colored lights, for effect, but it's not so great if you're a photographer, haha.

By the time I got these uploaded I realized that I really hated the color in all but two of the images, so I took this as an opportunity to play with black and white conversions ^_^  Hey... you know what they say... When the light's not right... convert to black and white!  XD  Okay, so I totally made that up, but that's sort of a general rule I go by... if the spotty stage lighting isn't mixing well with the ambient light, i just forget about color altogether and the images thank me in the end, haha.

And THESE are the two I couldn't stand *not* to have in color...

Crobot

Good morning star shiiiiine! The earth says 'Hellooooo'!

It's 4:30 AAAAMMMMMM...

And I've yet to goooooo... to bed.

XD

Yes, yes, I'm out on the road again with American Spirit, which means my sleeping habits are all askew again (I think I had about a week of semi-normalcy before this madness started again.  XD)  It's okay.  We leave at 6:45am, but I'll have about 6 hours to sleep on the bus... assuming I decide not to get up for lunch... and at this rate, I might not, haha.

In the mean time I've been finishing up images I took of Crobot at one of this recent shows.  I wanted to get these done a little sooner than I did, but life gets in the way, as you know... I mean I still have images from the Harddrive tour to finish... O_o  Personal work has a way of getting put on the back burner when more pressing projects come along...

Anyway...

Have I mentioned these guys before?  No?  Yes?  Does it really matter?

No, because I'm going to tell you about them again anyway.

This is what you need to know:  They're good.  REALLY good.  And you should listen to them.

["What kind of music are they?"]

"Dirty Groove Rock" (<-----Straight from the mouth of the Crobot)

["What the heck is 'Dirty grove rock?' "]

Go listen to them and find out!

-OR-

Better yet... go check them out LIVE at a show!  (But still 'like' their FB page. :D )

ANWAY... before my brain decides to shutdown on me for the night... here are a few of my favorite shots from the night!

And while I missed focus a bit on this one, I'm going to take a second to be a bit biased... You have no idea how hard it is for me to capture an expression of my husband looking like he's having fun while playing, haha.  Don't get me wrong... he's *always* having fun, but it's often a look of intensity and concentration painted on his face, so I personally found this one kind of adorable...
